Julie MarsonJulie Marson

Julie Marson is a Solicitor and the Senior Partner and Head of the Probate Wills and Trusts department. During her custodianship Moody and Woolley has achieved the standard of both LEXCEL and Investors in People. She was also responsible for obtaining the initial franchise for Family Work from the Legal Services Commission.

As a mother of two, Julie obtained her law degree at Nottingham Law School as a mature student having previously worked for the Inland Revenue and a local firm of accountants. Julie was a former Family Law Panel Member and now is an external Receiver/Deputy for the Office of the Public Guardian as well as a qualified Notary Public and is available to answer all your questions on Inheritance Tax, Probate, Wills, Trusts and Elderly Client issues. If you find it difficult to attend our offices, Julie or a member of her team will be happy to visit you in your home. Outside the office Julie is a keen walker and likes nothing better than walking in the Derbyshire Peak or along the coastal paths of Cornwall.

Ian is a Solicitor and Partner at Moody & Woolley. He is Head of our Commercial Property Department and also our Marketing Partner. He gained his Honours Degree in Business Law at Coventry University and qualified as a Solicitor at Guildford College of Law.

Ian deals primarily with commercial property and this covers everything from retail and licensed premises to industrial sites, agricultural land and office premises in addition to Business sales and acquisitions. Whether operating an existing business that is expanding or planning a new business venture Ian will be happy to discuss your requirements personally with you at the Office free of charge without any obligation. Ian is also very happy to deal with any purchase of domestic property regardless of size and value.

Outside the Office Ian undertakes commissions for Garden Design and is a Member of the Royal Horticultural Society and the National Gardens Scheme. He has been a Committee Member of the Derby Civic Society in addition to a number of local charitable fund raising appeals.

Julia is a Solicitor and Partner and Head of Moody & Woolley Family Team. She qualified in 1994 and joined Moody & Woolley in 1997.

She is a Law Society accredited Family Panel member (advanced) and a Resolution trained Collaborative family lawyer. She is the immediate past President of the Derby and District Law Society and sits on the Family Law Sub-Committee.

She has practiced almost exclusively family law since 1998 and has substantial experience particularly in the financial aspects of divorce and relationship breakdown.

Martina is a Solicitor and Partner and a member of the Law Society children panel. She moved to Derby in 2005 to join us in the Family Department, where she is now a Partner. In the short time she has been in Derby Martina has certainly made her presence felt. She chairs the local charity Children First and is a Trustee and singer with the Derby Bach Choir. Prior to coming to Derby, Martina worked as a solicitor as a Legal Aid preferred supplier in Manchester and is now primarily responsible for the supervision of our publicly funded work and has special expertise in advising clients as a member of the Child Care Panel.

Phil is an Associate Solicitor and has over twenty years experience of handling Personal Injury claims ranging from minor road traffic accidents through to high value industrial disease claims for both private clients and in a Trade Union environment. He is Head of the Litigation Department and is also experienced in Clinical Negligence claims and has developed a keen interest in assisting the Wills Probate and Trusts Department in pursuing Inheritance Act claims on behalf of clients. He is also a member of APIL - the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Celia is a Senior Solicitor with over twenty years experience in the Wills, Probate and Trusts Department as well as Residential Property matters. As well as advising on your Will Celia has extensive experience in elderly people’s advice.

Away from the office Celia has a wide range of interests. She loves gardening and has created the garden at her home in Ashbourne, much of it by hand! Her love of gardening is closely related to her flower arranging and she has helped at several Flower Festivals in Derbyshire. At present Celia is one of the 2 Churchwardens at St. Oswald's Parish Church, Ashbourne and in the past has served for many years as a governor of a local Infants School and a Junior School. She continues to have a love for all forms of cricket and International rugby.

Ian qualified as a Solicitor in 2005 having completed his Law Degree at Sheffield University and Legal Practice Course at Sheffield Law School. He joined Moody and Woolley Solicitors in November 2009 to help expand both the Commercial Property and Residential Conveyancing departments.

Ian is a commercial property specialist, having gained almost all of his 4 years post qualification experience with an international commercial law firm ranked in the top tier for Real Estate in Nottingham in the Legal 500. He has a wide range of experience dealing with a variety of commercial property transactions including leasehold acquisitions and disposals, granting and taking leases, asset management, overage (uplift) agreements, commercial freehold acquisitions and disposals, conditional contracts and many other general commercial property issues.

Ian can also deal with all domestic conveyancing, including

  • Moving home yourself,
  • Buying property to rent,
  • Transfers between spouses/partners,
  • Deeds of gift,

Jo Anna became a family solicitor in 2001 having graduated from Derby University and attending Nottingham Law School.

Jo Anna provides expert advice on all areas of family law as well as being an accredited specialist in the law relating to children and domestic violence.

As a member of Resolution Jo Anna always tries to work in a constructive rather than confrontational way and has a reputation for going the extra mile on behalf of her clients.

Sandra is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, Sandra is an experienced family lawyer, dealing with divorce, separation, financial/property and children matters.

In addition Sandra has considerable experience in personal injury compensation claims for clients who have been injured in accidents through no fault of their own. In particular accidents at work, slip and trip claims and road traffic accidents. Sandra is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

Anne is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, she is an experienced Family Lawyer who deals with all aspects of Family Law with particular reference to domestic abuse issues. She is also a trained couple counsellor with Relate.
